Water, unquestionably the source of all life, has also become one of the key strategic issues of our time. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO, 2004), one person out of four (or 1.4 billion people) lacks access to safe drinking water, one out of three (or 2.4 billion) has no access to sanitation, and 80% of diseases are water-related.

LE DROIT A L"EAU, UN DROIT DE L"HOMME UNIVERSEL

1. Le Droit à l’Eau est un droit de l’homme fondamental etinaliénable dont personne ne devrait être privé.
2. Le Droit à l’Eau est à la fois un droit individuel et un droit collectif.
3. ACF-IN n’accepte en aucune manière une approche de l’eau limitée qui considère l’eau comme étant uniquement un besoin.

POLITIQUE ACF-IN EN EAU, ASSAINISSEMENT ET HYGIENE

Dans le combat d’ACF-IN contre la faim et la malnutrition, les acti vités des domaines de l’eau, l’hygiène et l’assainissement occupent une place importante, aussi bien au niveau curatif, qu’au niveau préventif, en assistant directement les projets de santé publique et de sécurité alimentaire, avec une attention particulière à la protection de l’environnement.

LE DROIT A L"EAU - EMERGENCE, DÉFINITION, SITUATION ACTUELLE ET POSITION DES ACTEURS

L’eau, incontestable source de vie, est également une des questions les plus stratégiques de notre temps. Selon l’OMS (2004), une personne sur quatre (soit 1,4 milliards d’individus) n’a pas accès à l’eau potable, une personne sur trois (soit 2,4 milliards) n’a pas accès à l’assainissement et 80% des maladies sont d’origine hydrique.

WATER, SANITATION & HYGIENE. DISASTER RISK REDUCTION ASSESSMENT

The assessment proposed by ACF for the Ayeyarwaddy Division was to evaluate for the French Red Cross purposes, the needs of transferring the FRC Water Research tools as well as to define and justify in details potential Water Sanitation and Hygiene component, with an additional focus on mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction for the water and sanitation issues only.

WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE POLICY ACF-IN

In its fight against hunger and malnutrition, ACF-IN Water,Sanitation and Hygiene activities stand both at the curative care (delivering proper water and sanitation facilities to TFCs and Health centres when relevant) and at preventive care levels (directly assisting public health and food security projects, and considering environmental care).

THE HUMAN RIGHT TO WATER

 1. The Human Right To Water is a fundamental and inalienable human right of which nobody should be deprived.
2. The Human Rigth To Water is the both an individual and collective right.
3. ACF-IN does not accept the limited perspective that considers water only as a need.
