FAQs
- Where does my donation go?
Your donations will go to our projects working to fight against hunger and malnutrition, projects that fight the causes of hunger and create opportunities for families to develop. We firmly believe in the right to food and that hunger has a solution.
Through our projects, we provide therapeutic malnutrition treatment, ensure access to clean water for families and work to provide them with the means to guarantee a proper diet, among other things. We are also present in Spain with employability and training projects.
With your donations, we can help more than 9 million people in more than 40 countries.
We distribute the funds we receive based on our key action points: food security (37%), water and sanitation (45%), health (9%), disaster risk reduction (3%). - Can I claim tax back on my donations?
Yes, all your donations to Action Against Hunger are subject to tax relief. In fact, from 2016, all donations can claim back more tax than before. From 2016, when you make a donation, instead of 25%, you can claim back the tax on the first €150 at 75% (that is, €112.5). You can also claim tax back on everything you donate above that amount at a rate of 30%.
If you have been making donations to the same NGO for 3 or more years, for an amount that is the same or higher than in the previous tax year, you will be able to claim tax back on amounts over the first €150 at a rate of 35%. - How do I know my donations will go where they are most needed?
We have mechanisms that guarantee transparency in our allocation of funds. In 2014, for example, we were subject to more than 70 audits, both internal and external.
Audits are carried out in Spain and in the countries where the projects take place. In addition to financial audits, we are also subject to organisational audits. Our accounts, audited by Ernst & Young, are published every year in our annual report.
We are one of the few organisations that have an internal auditing department. All the public bodies that grant us funds, like the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency (AECID) or the European institutions, also need us to account for every cent we receive.
