ADA Representatives meet with Akhmeta LAG and Local Authorities and hear of support to Environmental Protection and Women’s Economic Engagement.

On the afternoon of the 12th July 2023, Tobias Orischnig, Program Manager for Armenia, Georgia, and Moldova at the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and Alex Karner, ADA Head of Office for Georgia visited Akhmeta Municipality to meet with members of the Local Action Group (LAG). The LAG is currently being supported by ADA under the 3-year project ‘Improving local governance through inclusive development approaches” implemented by Action Against Hunger.

Building Friendships through Inter-district Sports

From the 12th May to 17th May 2023, sporting events were held in five regions of Abkhazia, organized by the Local Action Groups (LAG) of Gagra, Gudauta, Ochamchire, Tkvarcheli and Gali districts with the support of Action Against Hunger and UNDP. These sporting events were financed by the Austrian Development Agency and the EU ENPARD programmes, with the purpose of bringing together schoolchildren from different villages and to strengthen inter-district ties, while promoting a healthy lifestyle. In total, 156 schoolchildren took part in competitions in the five districts with the aim to reach the inter district finals to be held in the following month.

VET Accountancy students complete "Soft Skills Development for Employment" course.

The closing ceremony of the professional training program, "Practical Accounting", was held in Shota Meskhia State Teaching University of Zugdidi. Within this program the learning component "Soft skills Development for Employment" had been integrated. This component is based upon the SHUTTLE methodology created by Action Against Hunger and our staff have been supporting the Teaching University in piloting its implementation.

As the Syrian crisis enters its 13th year and the 7th Brussels Conference in support of Syria and the region approaches, Lebanon Humanitarian and Development NGOs Forum (LHDF), Working Group for People Affected by the Syrian Crisis (PASC), and Lebanon Humanitarian INGO Forum (LHIF) members call for sustained support from the European Union, Member States, and other donors to those in need in Lebanon.
