LAG Youth Volunteers Share Akhmeta Stories
In recent months a team of youth volunteers from Akhmeta has been sharpening their social media and communication skills through workshops and trainings to highlight the development activities and initiatives taking place in local communities of their municipality. These young people, aged 15-18, are giving their time, energy and creativity to work as a communication team for the Akhmeta Local Action Group that has been founded under the ENPARD project “Promoting inclusive and participatory development in Akhmeta Municipality”, and implemented by Action Against Hunger and Kakheti Regional Development Foundation (KRDF).

Veterinarians supported for improved response to zoonotic diseases
In September 2020, international experts conducted trainings and workshops for the Veterinary Service Department (VSD) in Abkhazia on coordinated disease response and the organization of vaccination campaigns for rabies, brucellosis and poultry diseases, within the framework of the project “Promoting integrated approaches to animal health and plant protection in Abkhazia” as funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and implemented by Action Against Hunger

WITH EU SUPPORT AKHMETA LAG LAUNCHES SUB-GRANT COMPETITION
On the 4th August 2020 the EU-supported Akhmeta Local Action Group launched the first phase of its sub-grant competition to fund projects that will support local development in the municipality. Action Against Hunger, in partnership with Kakheti Regional Development Foundation (KRDF) is supporting Akhmeta LAG under the EU-supported ENPARD project “Promoting inclusive and participatory local development in Akhmeta Municipality”.

EPIC project MoU signed with Agency of IDPs, Eco-migrants and Livelihood Provision, Georgia
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Action Against Hunger and the Agency of IDPs, Eco-migrants and Livelihood Provision on 30 June 2020 within the project “Economic and social participation of vulnerable displaced persons and local population in the South Caucasus – EPIC”.

Shuttle methodology transfer to Armenian State Employment Agency
Following the success of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Shuttles in Georgia, within the framework of the “Economic and Social Participation of Vulnerable Displaced and Local Population in the South Caucasus” (EPIC) programme, the Shuttle methodology is being transferred to the Republic of Armenia State Employment Agency (SEA).

Upgraded Pest Management System links experts and farmers online
Action Against Hunger has upgraded its Integrated Pest Management System (IPMS) to link agricultural experts and farmers to weekly data and online resources needed to battle the highly resilient pest, the invasive Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB), in Abkhazia.
