Dana: “Now I am more confident… Now I can breastfeed my twins”

In this collective shelter around 50 families live there from different nationalities: Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian. Considering this center had many women and young children, Action Against Hunger and UNICEF decided to provide nutrition support in this collective shelter. The project implemented with support of UNICEF included addressing the nutrition security of vulnerable pregnant and lactating women and caregivers of children under five years of age by providing support on appropriate infant and young child feeding practices, timely detection of acute malnutrition and provision of micronutrient supplements in Beeka and South of Lebanon in south Lebanon.

Nearly 7 million internally displaced in Ukraine prepare for second winter since the beginning of the conflict

The conflict in Ukraine continues. Since its start on 24 February 2022, military action in the north, south and east of the country, including major population centres such as Kiev, Kharkiv, Odessa and Mariupol, has caused massive displacements of people, widespread damage to infrastructure and significant disruption of essential services. More than 16,000 civilians have been killed. A member of Action Against Hunger Emergency Team traveled to Odessa to support the efforts of the Moldova Country Office, in conjunction and in partnership with Ukraine Country Office, to assess the situation and needs and prepare a response plan.

Almost 4 million people affected and more than 150 dead after Tropical Storm Nalgae in the Philippines

At least 150 people have lost their lives and 36 are missing after Tropical Storm Nalgae (local name Paeng) hit the Philippines on 28 to 31 October. The storm has caused severe flooding and landslides and, in some cases, has destroyed entire villages. Action Against Hunger, a humanitarian organization working in the Philippines since 2000, his responding to the needs of affected communities.

Lebanon declared on the 6th of October a cholera outbreak that is spreading rapidly through the country, a few weeks after the disease was spotted in neighboring Syria. There are now 2,255 suspected and confirmed cholera cases in Lebanon. Eighteen people have died.
