Khouloud Mahdi is 28 years old and the WaSH Programme Manager with Action Against Hunger in South Lebanon. She leads a team of women implementing projects that provide access to many communities with clean water, and rehabilitation of the infrastructure and solid waste management- her proudest achievement. Khouloud’s works daily with municipalities, local partners, and water establishments to identify the needs of the communities. Since that sphere of work is mostly dominated by men, she feels that sometimes it requires extra effort to convince them with solutions, yet not impossible as she said. Khouloud’s motivation stems from engaging directly with the communities in South Lebanon and witnessing first-hand the impact of Action Against Hunger’s projects on the lives of people. Khouloud’s message to women on World Humanitarian Day is “Turn your sadness to strength, your tears to triumph, and transform your fears into freedom”.
