Philippines emergency: Action Against Hunger assists earthquake and flood victims in several parts of the country

Around 3 million people have been affected by the latest emergencies in the Philippines. On 17 November, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the island of Sarangani. The country continued to face adversity as only a few days later, heavy rainfall caused major flooding, affecting several areas of the country. Northern Samar in Eastern Visayas is the most affected province, with 422,495 individuals or 107,781 families impacted.

Action Against Hunger activates its humanitarian response in the Darién region with a focus on maternal and child health

Action Against Hunger has started its humanitarian activities in the challenging Darien region, located on the border between Colombia and Panama. This jungle area, characterised by difficult access and extreme weather conditions, is part of the migration route used by thousands of people on their way to the United States. Action Against Hunger's humanitarian response focuses on providing maternal and child health care through mobile brigades composed of medical staff and nutritionists.

Zugdidi LAG Grant Beneficiary Photo Exhibition Gallery

Below are a collection of photos of sub-grantees supported by Zugdidi LAG under the project “Improving Local Governance through Inclusive Development Approaches” which is implemented by Action Against Hunger South Caucasus with funding from Austrian Development Cooperation. These photos were featured at an exhibition on the 16th November at the Women’s Non-formal Education Centre in Kakhati, attended the President of the Federal Council of the Austrian Parliament, Claudia Arpa, together with an accompanying delegation including the Austrian Ambassador to Georgia, Thomas Mühlmann, and the Head of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) for Georgia, Alexander Karner.

Visit of the President of the Federal Council of the Austrian Parliament to Zugdidi

On the 16th of November 2023, Zugdidi LAG and Action Against Hunger hosted a visit of the President of the Federal Council of the Austrian Parliament, Claudia Arpa, together with the Austrian Parliamentary Delegation. The delegation was accompanied by the Austrian Ambassador to Georgia, Thomas Mühlmann, and the Head of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) for Georgia, Alexander Karner.

New edition of 'Research for Nutrition', the meeting point for leading experts on child malnutrition

On 6 and 7 November, a new edition of the 'Research for Nutrition' conference (#R4NUT) took place in Nanterre (Paris), an event organised by Action Against Hunger (ACF) to exchange experiences that can improve the effectiveness of treatments for child undernutrition.
