Action Against Hunger South Caucasus hosts its Bi-annual Programmatic Workshop

From the 31st July to the 3rd August, the Action Against Hunger South Caucasus team hosted its bi-annual programmatic workshop in the Coordination office in Tbilisi. The workshop was held after several weeks of preparatory work to establish the Technical Programming Framework, Modalities and Priorities for the mission over the next 2 years. The workshop was facilitated by Teresa Caterino and Ana Maria Muedra Sánchez from the Action Against Hunger headquarters in Spain. Representatives from the offices throughout the South Caucasus journeyed to Tbilisi to participate and provide their input.

Georgian LAGs learn from Austrian LEADER experience.

Over the summer, to support the further development of the Local Action Groups (LAGs) of Akhmeta and Zugdidi municipalities, Action Against Hunger organized a four-day study tour to Austria. This study tour was made possible through the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the project “Improving local governance through inclusive development approaches”

Action Against Hunger Hosts Coordination Round Table in Syunik Province, Armenia

On the 27th July 2023, within the scope of the project “Providing humanitarian cash assistance and MHPSS to displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh in Syunik province, Armenia” funded by Spanish Cooperation, a round table discussion was held in Syunik province organised by Action Against Hunger in cooperation with “Partnership and Teaching”. The event was attended by the majority of international NGOs, UN agencies from Syunik province as well as by the provincial and local authorities. The main aim of the round table was to create an environment for all actors to raise and discuss the existing humanitarian and development needs and challenges faced by the communities in Syunik, which have occurred as a result of the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh (NK) war, the escalation of the conflict in September 2022 and ongoing blockade of the Lachin Corridor.

Integration of ‘Shuttle’ Methodology gains high praise at Graduation ceremony of Tourism Guide students at Vocational College, Modusi

On the 20th June, 2023, the LEPL Vocational College “Modusi” in Rustavi held a graduation event for students of the Tourism Guide vocational course that, for the first time, also included the piloting of the “Soft Skills Development for Employment” component designed and supported by Action Against Hunger (AAH) using its ‘Shuttle’ methodology. The event began with a welcome address from Modusi’s Director, Nino Kavtaradze, followed by Sarah Zielonka, First Secretary, Head of Economic and Press Affairs, Embassy of Germany and AAH’s Regional Director, Marcella Maxfield, all of whom praised the college’s support of the pilot program and expressed their desire that the component will be further integrated by all VET colleges in Georgia.

ADA Representatives meet with Akhmeta LAG and Local Authorities and hear of support to Environmental Protection and Women’s Economic Engagement.

On the afternoon of the 12th July 2023, Tobias Orischnig, Program Manager for Armenia, Georgia, and Moldova at the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and Alex Karner, ADA Head of Office for Georgia visited Akhmeta Municipality to meet with members of the Local Action Group (LAG). The LAG is currently being supported by ADA under the 3-year project ‘Improving local governance through inclusive development approaches” implemented by Action Against Hunger.
